Introduction to the Self Esteem workshop series with an overview of the workshop content and a written assessment to determine the level of aptitude

 

Personal Hygiene

A discussion about personal hygiene highlights feminine hygiene, dental hygiene, and keeping the hands, nails, and feet clean and odor-free

 

Etiquette

The etiquette workshop is presented in two parts. Part one covers personal appearance, meeting and greeting people, resume writing, and communication skills. In part two, we discuss mealtime manners, cell phone etiquette, and some pitfalls of social media and engage in role-play activities.

 

Hair Care

During this workshop, we talk about maintaining clean and healthy hair, identifying different textures, learning proper product selection, and exploring simple styling options.

 

Skin Care

The skin care workshop is presented in two parts. In the first session, we discuss the science of skincare, determining skin type, and product selection. In the second presentation we learn and complete the steps of a mini facial. This workshop is hands-on.

 

Brow Shaping

During the brow shaping session, we will learn how to determine the proper brow shape for your face and discuss hair removal options. The brows will then be professionally shaped. This workshop is hands-on.

 

Let’s Make Up

The makeup session is done in two parts. In the first part, instruction is given on how to achieve polished professional makeup for the workplace. We explore product selection and proper product application. The second portion is dedicated to practicing the application of the products. This workshop is hands-on.

 

Professional Attire

This workshop explores proper attire for job interviews and employment. We discuss proper foundations and how to dress for success for much less. Most importantly, we discuss WHAT NOT TO WEAR!

 

Time for Self

During this session, we talk about the importance of taking time out for self. We explore and share suggestions for healthy and economical ways to reflect, recharge, and manage stress.

 

Look Good & Feel Better

This workshop is designed to highlight the importance of proper nutrition and exercise; how to make wiser choices, cultivate healthier habits, and achieve beauty that comes from the inside out.

 

What’s in Your Wallet

During this session we discuss how to make the most of your money by developing a budget, managing personal banking, the pros and cons of credit cards, and the importance of saving for a rainy day.

 

Becoming a Caregiver

This workshop tackles the transition to becoming a caregiver of an aging parent or disabled adult child. We discuss ways to delegate responsibility, share the load, and advocate for those being cared for, as well as caring for your mental and physical health while maintaining a personal and professional life.

Let's Eat

This seminar explores how to get the most out of food donations and make food boxes work for your nutritional needs and preferred tastes. It includes a discussion about seasonal food and recipes and when and how to shop at grocery stores, farmers' markets, and discount stores to get the most out of your food budget. We also discover the benefits of small-space and balcony gardening.

 

Women’s Health & Aging

We talk about chronic illness and its intersection with culture and lifestyle, the need for breast exams, what every woman wishes someone would have told them about aging and menopause, and how to remain vibrant.

 

Mental Health & Aging

We talk about mental health, stress, grief, the many forms of loss and depression, and when to seek help.

 

Personal Style

Explore your expression of self to the world, when your body changes, and how to cultivate personal style.

 

Technology

We build trust, solve problems, and have patient conversations about basic instructions for cell phones, computers, and the Internet. Then, we practice simple computer skills.

 

The Winter of Life

This workshop is designed to assist in preparing for and ensuring that your end-of-life wishes are honored. We will discuss wills, trusts, power of attorney, guardianship, and advance healthcare directives.

 

Signs and Seasons

In this workshop, we explore options for changes in living arrangements, different types of senior living communities, costs, levels, and types of services, how to choose the best community, and how to get what you’ve paid for.

 

Advocacy

We advocate for women, seniors, and other distressed populations in the areas of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, wholeness, and well-being. This includes, but is not limited to, help with forms and navigating barriers to obtaining education, health, housing, medical assistance, and other resources.
